The sole of a bare foot fills the foreground beneath the water, toes curled and heel catching amber light. The edge of a surfboard enters at the upper left. Around the foot, bright bubbles and rippled reflections give way to clearer turquoise below.
A foot is an ordinary thing to build a surf picture around, which is what I like about it. From this close, you notice the curl of the toes and the water moving past the skin. Most of the body is outside the frame. That small contact with the water is enough to suggest the rest.
