Artist's medium: Digital mixed media, pop-art collage.

Vera Dray is a Pennsylvania-born pop art poster artist and musician with a deep love for all things retro. A self-taught artist, Vera draws inspiration from the vibrant culture of the mid-20th century and the bold aesthetics of the 1980s and 1990s. Known for her mixed-media approach, she blends digital collage, hand-drawn elements, and bold typography to create art that is as playful as it is thought-provoking: posters with cheeky phrases and iconic imagery that speak to the rebellious spirit of pop culture.

Artist statement

My art is a love letter to the eras that shaped me: times of bold colors, loud music, and cultural revolutions. Each piece is a conversation between the past and the present. I'm particularly drawn to the tension between the familiar and the subversive, which is why you'll often find iconic imagery juxtaposed with bold, unexpected phrases, like a woman with 1950s "housewife" iconography paired with a phrase from 1990s culture. I want my art to challenge viewers to look beyond the surface and to appreciate the beauty in both the past and the present.
