Luciana Martin is a visionary image-maker known for her evocative black-and-white portraiture that captures the elegance and strength of the human spirit. She is particularly inspired by the contrasts of couture fashion and urban architecture, and has a self-professed "transatlantique" lifestyle spending time in the cities of Europe and North America. Luciana's work blends sophistication with a raw, unfiltered approach that challenges conventional notions of glamour, celebrated for its striking contrasts in both light and subject matter.

Artist statement

For me, elegance is most alive when it is a little out of place. I like to photograph a refined woman where she does not quite belong, and to keep the small tension that appears between her composure and the world around her. I work in black and white because colour asks for too much attention; without it, only the feeling and the gesture remain. I have always believed that a certain contradiction is where a person becomes most true.
