James Francis
Printmaking & photography, Caribbean coastal forms
Medium & process
Released as limited-edition giclée prints on Hahnemühle archival paper, museum and gallery quality, signed, numbered, and sent with a certificate of authenticity.
Artist's medium: Photo-based, digitally produced with screenprint character.
James Francis is a printmaker and photographer whose work draws on Caribbean travel, coastal life, and the visual economy of traditional screenprinting. The images use a restricted palette, flat areas of colour, and grainy textures that give each work the appearance of a hand-pulled print even when produced digitally.
The series begins with original photographs of ordinary island forms: sea grape, green bananas, shells, boats, architecture, foliage, and shoreline details. Subjects are stripped back to shape, contrast, and colour, turning familiar objects into simplified graphic compositions.
The work is produced as limited-edition archival giclée prints, with each image developed to preserve the visual character of screenprint, poster, and relief-print traditions.
